Hip-hop dance is a street dance style which developed as part of Hip-hop culture. Hip-hop culture is the embodiment of four important elements: Breaking, Rapping(MCing, Beatboxing), Graphite and Djing. It started as an underground movement as a counter culture against a very racist and discriminating society. Hip-hop dance evolved in the streets of The Bronx, New York, in the early 1970s, in the African American communities. The various styles associated with Hip-hop dance are Breaking, Locking, Popping, Old School etc. What distinguishes Hip-hop from other forms of dance is that it is often “freestyle” which means it is improvisational in nature. Hip-hop dance crews and individuals engaged in freestyle dance competitions, also known as “battles”. Fusion Performing Arts Academy conducts regular Bollywood Dance classes in Delhi. Students can join the classes to learn Bollywood Dance as a popular dance form, to be able to perform on different Bollywood songs or just as a general fitness routine in its fitness version that we call BollySweat. Bollywood at DDA is taught in the following formats: Bollywood freestyle, Bollywood + Hip Hop and Bollywood + Classical. These classes are designed to develop modern dance knowledge, experience, techniques and expression necessary for appropriate level modern warm-ups, center combinations, improvisation and performance level choreography. Students develop age and level appropriate spatial awareness and articulation of the body; improve physical control, balance, coordination, alignment, strength, flexibility, and stamina; and become practiced in improvisation, movement, and expression. In all classes, an age and level-appropriate understanding of proper body mechanics are taught.
